About 50 people showed up for the actual chat session, some quite well steeped in the details of Bobby Womack's career, and some who were "star-struck" at being in the same "space" with Bobby Womack. There are also jazz artists who played a type of jazz that’s not always easy to name. An early 1940s style known as "jumping the blues" or jump blues used small combos, uptempo music, and blues chord progressions. Since the prime time period of hard bop (1955-70) was a decade later than bop, these differences were a logical evolution and one can think of hard bop as bop of the '50s and '60s. It's less about atmosphere and more about singing. Of course many of you will recall Stephanie McKay and her fantastic song "RAINBOW" from the Soul-Patrol Digital/Virtual Album back in 2007.
